CRUISE Touchpad Tablet PC:Tablet with a keyboard

By himadri_dimriAug 17 '11

The Good: If you are looking for a mini 7 inch Android tablet with a keyboard in a price range of 5,499 Rs then Cruise Touchpad Tablet Pc is just for you!

The Bad: It gets a bit hot if used or charged for long hours and lacks USB charger which will make you search for normal charging points even on the go. This device may get comparatively slow in multitasking if compared to the other tablets and ipads in the market.

Editor's note: You get an Android touchpad tablet pc with good ebook reader, a very nice picture viewer and light weight in a budget less than 5,500 Rs what else can you ask for? There may be better options in the market if you consider the speed or screen size or may be the resolution but within a specified range we suggest you should try this one!

Review: Cruise Touchpad Tablet PC is an Android based, 7 inches wide tablet that is worth a try. Back side of the tablet has a shiny surface and looks impressive. On the first sight, you may feel that it's just another normal tablet but if you see the keyboard that has been given with it you are kind of excited. Well, when I was handed the tablet I wondered what's different here but after seeing the keyboard the device seemed pretty interesting. Just attach the keyboard's wire to the tablet using a USB connector and Voila, you have  a tablet that can be used with touch or with a keyboard.
The Cruise Touchpad tablet Pc comes with an attachable keyboard, USB connector, stylus, charger and a cover for the tablet.Well here is what I felt after using it a bit. The look and feel is sleek and comfortable. The size being around 7 inches is not too big or small so it comes quite handy. The size of this tablet is good enough because you may opt for bigger screen tablets, but imagine yourself in a super rush area you'll thank 7 inch screen for the feasibility issues. The screen resolution is pretty decent with less clutter and more clearer view.
On the rear end of the tablet you have been provided some buttons like menu and volume adjustment. On the left hand side of the tablet there is an ON/OFF button. In order to open or close the tab you need to press the button for some time that is for 2-3 seconds. There is a menu button right on the tab which can be pressed when you wish to come back to the main menu immediately.
There is a microphone point given and also standard jack slot which lets you use the headphones. The speaker quality is okay and it comes with an inbuilt music player with it.
Coming to the keyboard I would say that the keys are soft but way too close. May be that is due to the size, but can get a bit problematic if you are new. There is a USB wire attached to the keyboard, which is connected to the tab with the help of a USB connector. On the right hand side of the tablet, there are USB and card reader slots.
The navigation is clean and easy. Multitasking is okay till a certain limit but if you choose to open a lot of windows then I guess that may hamper the speed a bit. At times the system slows down and heats up if used or charged for long hours.
The device lets you read e-books, view images really well and edit them. The e-book reader is worth a try here. Among other things it has the usual calender, touch slide phone lock, emails, micro Sd card slots and  inbuilt Wi Fi.
There is just one issue that I think should be looked upon. The USB connector for the keyboard is a bit loose which might create problems sometime. In short, when compared to the famous tablets in market like Samsung Galaxy tab and Blackberry playbook this one lacks the impressive great resolution, screens and certain features, but what would you expect within the range of 5,500 Rs? This one is sure worth a buy if you have some savings and want to get a hands on experience with a Tablet.
